How does this Peppol checker work?
Type a company name or enterprise number. The checker verifies whether the company is registered in the Peppol network as an e-invoice receiver. If so, you’ll see the Peppol ID and can copy it straight into your invoicing software.

Check your whole client list at once

The Peppol ID is the address where a company receives e-invoices. For Belgian enterprises it is almost always 0208: followed by the enterprise number, for example 0208:0797521231. Your invoicing software uses that ID to deliver the invoice to the right recipient.
E-invoicing is mandatory in Belgium since 2026
Since 1 January 2026, structured e-invoices via Peppol are the standard for B2B invoices between Belgian VAT-registered enterprises. That’s why it pays to check upfront whether your client or supplier is registered: you’ll know whether your invoice arrives digitally.
What if a company is not on Peppol?
Not every enterprise is registered yet. Registration usually happens through accounting or invoicing software or via an access point; the company itself barely has to do anything. If your supplier or client isn’t listed yet, send your invoice the classic way for now and ask when they plan to switch.

What is Peppol?
Peppol is an international network through which accounting and invoicing software exchange e-invoices securely. Your invoice does not go out as a PDF by e-mail, but as a structured file from your software through your access point to the recipient’s access point, so it can be read straight into their books. In Belgium, Peppol is the channel for the mandatory business-to-business e-invoice.
Why has e-invoicing via Peppol been mandatory since 2026?
Since 1 January 2026, Belgian VAT-registered enterprises must send their invoices to other Belgian VAT-registered enterprises as structured e-invoices, and be able to receive them. A PDF by e-mail no longer suffices. The government wants to curb VAT fraud and automate bookkeeping; from 2028, digital reporting of invoices to the tax authorities follows. Invoices to private individuals are not covered.
How do I check whether a company can receive e-invoices?
Type the company’s name, VAT or enterprise number in the checker above. If it is in the Peppol network, you see its Peppol ID at once and, when known, the registration date. If it is not, the checker says so too. That way you know in advance whether your e-invoice will arrive digitally.
What is a Peppol ID and what does it look like?
The Peppol ID is the delivery address for your e-invoices. For a Belgian company it is usually 0208: followed by the ten-digit enterprise number, for example 0208:0797521231. Some companies are (also) registered on their VAT number, with 9925: in front, for example 9925:BE0797521231. Your invoicing software looks the ID up by itself; above, you can look it up and copy it.
What if a company is not on Peppol?
Then your e-invoice cannot reach it digitally yet. Ask your client or supplier when their registration will follow; it usually goes through their accounting or invoicing software. Good to know: we search the Peppol Directory, the network’s public directory. Not every access point publishes all its participants there, so once in a while a company is reachable without being listed.
How do I register my own company on Peppol?
Through your accounting or invoicing software: most register your company on your enterprise number with their access point, often in a few clicks. You can also work with an access point directly. Register with one access point at a time: a second registration on the same number fails while the first one exists.
Is this Peppol check free?
Yes. Searching, viewing the registration and copying the Peppol ID is completely free, with no account and as often as you like.
Can I check a whole list of companies on Peppol at once?
Yes. Choose Check a list above the search field and paste up to 500 VAT or enterprise numbers, in any spelling, or choose a CSV or TXT file: we find the column with numbers ourselves and drop duplicates. For each number you see whether it is valid, whether the company is active in the CBE and whether it is on Peppol, with its Peppol ID. You download the result as CSV, with the source and date. Sole traders are shown without an address.
